General Tips for All Flooring Types
Use doormats at entrances to reduce dirt and debris. Lift furniture and appliances instead of dragging them. Place furniture pads on all chair and table legs. Avoid rubber-backed mats (can discolor some floors).
Always match your cleaner to the flooring type:
Hardwood: pH-neutral hardwood cleaner (avoid water-based mopping)
LVP/Vinyl: Mild dish soap or vinyl-safe floor cleaner
Ceramic Tile: Tile or multi-surface cleaner (acid-free for grout)
Laminate: Damp mop only—never saturated
📌 Avoid bleach, ammonia, vinegar, cleaners that have wax fillers or abrasive cleaners unless approved by the manufacturer.

Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) or Rigid Core Products
Sweep or vacuum regularly to avoid grit scratching the surface. Clean with a vinyl-safe floor cleaner or a solution of warm water and mild dish soap (followed by rinsing the floor). Use a damp microfiber mop — no soaking required.
🚫 Avoid:
Abrasive scrubbers or scouring pads.
Steam mops (can loosen adhesive or damage wear layer).
Do Not Wax — LVP does not require it.
✅ Seasonal Tip:
Use felt pads on furniture and mats at entryways to reduce wear and prevent dragging damage.
Ceramic & Porcelain Tiles
Sweep or vacuum often to keep grit off the surface. Mop with warm water or a tile cleaner recommended by your installer. Clean grout lines with a soft brush and baking soda paste or grout cleaner.
🚫 Avoid:
Oil-based cleaners (can make tile slippery).
Acidic cleaners on grout unless designed for tile use.
✅ Grout Tip:
Reseal grout every 12–24 months to protect against stains and moisture.
Luxury Sheet Vinyl & Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT)
Dust mop or sweep frequently. Clean with a damp mop using vinyl floor cleaner or a solution of warm water with a drop of mild detergent. Rinse with clean water and dry to prevent residue buildup.
🚫 Avoid:
Steam cleaners (may weaken bonding and layers).
Solvent-based polishes or waxes, Use only the ones specified by manufacturer.
✅ Maintenance Tip:
For small nicks or tears, use a vinyl repair kit to seal and protect.
Hardwood Flooring Care
Sweep or vacuum (with a soft-bristle attachment) regularly to remove grit and dust. Use a damp (not wet) microfiber mop with a pH-neutral hardwood floor cleaner like Bona Professional Cleaner. Immediately wipe spills with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Use Bona Refresher to bring back the finish about every 6 months and restore the surface every few years depending on traffic.
🚫 Avoid:
Excess water or steam mops (can cause warping or dullness).
Harsh cleaners, vinegar, ammonia, or oil soaps.
Walking with high heels or cleats (can dent surface).
Direct sunlight (use curtains or rugs to prevent fading).
✅ Seasonal Tip:
Maintain consistent humidity (30–50%) to prevent shrinkage, checking or gapping.
